For smokers, Champix is like an anchor, which supports them in smoking cessation process. It is very difficult to quit smoking and smokers and their relatives and friends are quite aware of that. Champix helps people to quit smoking easily, relieving them of all the pleasures and pains of smoking cessation.

So what exactly is Champix? Is it a miracle pill or magic bullet, which helps smokers to quit? Do smokers quit smoking with Champix without any self-control on their side?

Well, the answer is quite simple. Champix is just a prescription medication and helps smokers to quit smoking only if they practice self-control. It is not miracle pill and does no help smokers to quit magically. Only if a smoker makes a firm decision, he can quit smoking with Champix.

Its working

Champix works by attaching itself to the nicotine receptors in the brain. By doing so, it nullifies the effects of nicotine when a person smokes. This makes smoking displeasing and smoker gets no sense of calm that he gets out of smoking. Champix also reduces nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms as the brain is tricked into believing that it is getting its dose of nicotine.

Its efficacy

Apart from people who swear by Champix, there are clinical records that reveal the efficacy of this anti-smoking drug. The safety and efficacy profile of Champix established in the clinical trials was indeed remarkable. It increases the chances of a smoker to quit smoking successfully by four times as compared to quitting cold turkey. It is also twice more effective than Zyban bupropion. Efficacy ofChampixwas not measured against nicotine replacement therapies as it already has an edge over them. This revolutionary drug does not contain nicotine and this is a reason enough for people to prefer Champix to nicotine replacement therapies.

Its safety

Apart from few mild to moderate side effects, this drug is comparatively safer than bupropion, which causes depression in people. The side effects caused by varenicline (active ingredient of Champix) are also treatable and reversible. Once your body adjusts to the medication or you stop the medication, you experience no side effects.

Some of the side effects that you might experience on taking varenicline are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, changes in appetite, vivid dreams, fatigue, and sleeping problems. These are not all the side effects that you experience because of varenicline. Also, you will not experience any or all these side effects as different people react differently too the medication. If your symptoms become acute and unbearable, you should contact a doctor.
