Acne soap is an important ingredient in your battle against acne. Did you notice I said an ingredient and not the whole solution? That’s because no acne soap or acne gel is enough - you’ll need a comprehensive approach if you’re going to ">control your acne . Still, finding the best soap for your acne is a real good start.

Ah, but how do you do that? Well, unfortunately, nothing replaces actual experience so you may have to rely on good old trial and error. But maybe you can get a little bit of a head start by first determining what your skin type is.

Is your skin dry to the touch? If it is then you probably need an acne soap that will have some hydrating qualities as well. It has to cleanse your skin first but you don’t want something that will further strip out your natural minerals and moisture. That won’t do your skin any long-term good. So if you think you have dry skin you might start with a natural acne soap like Adovia Natural Dead Sea Mud Soap. This bar soap has no real fragrance and can be used as either a facial or a body soap.

Do you suffer from naturally oily skin? If so, then you’ll probably need something that does a bit more drying than moisturizing. That’s because you’ll need to get a little bit ahead of your over-active sebaceous skin glands that are feeding your blackheads and pimples. Be careful though. Just because your skin is oily doesn’t mean you can’t dry it out. Begin carefully with a product like Thylox Acne Treatment soap. It uses sulfur as an active ingredient so it can be a pretty powerful drying agent.  Start slow and increase your usage as your skin gets used to the soap.

What about if your skin type is sort of in the middle? Then you need a sort of “middle-of-the-road” balanced soap – something that won’t irritate your skin but will still get rid of the excess oil. The pH balanced soaps from pHisoderm might work for you. A “balanced” soap will also fight the bacteria on your skin that loves to mix with the oil and dead skin cells to really plug up your pores.

Whatever you choose, take it slow and let your skin get used to it. Any change in acne cleanser will need some getting used to. Also, remember that an effective acne treatment regimen is a consistent and on-going affair. There are no 3-day acne cures, not really. You’ll have to work at it diligently to be successful. But if you stick with it, you will be successful.
