Deciding to quit smoking is one of the best decisions a smoker will make in his or her entire life. Making the decision to quit is just the first step in a long journey towards better health and quality of life. It's a notoriously difficult journey to take, but with a little help from your friends, it doesn't have to be an impossible one. There are many stop smoking tips that have helped many people to kick this dirty and dangerous habit. With the help of these tips, you can kick this habit quickly and permanently.

Our first important stop smoking tips are negative in nature. Think about all of the negative consequences of smoking. Think about how it has adversely affected your health, and possibly even the health of your loved ones. Think about how it has adversely affected your appearance and even your breath. Most importantly, think about how it has negatively affected your self-confidence. You may feel defeated by this habit; that you can't beat it; that its hold on you is too strong. Let it make you angry that you feel that this inanimate object has so much control over your life. Then, use that anger to motivate you never to let this bad habit have so much control over your life again.

Our next stop smoking tips are positive in nature. Remind yourself that you are strong enough to live without this habit. Take it one day at a time, one moment at a time. Tell yourself that you can get through this stressful moment without a cigarette; you can reward yourself with a much better reward than a cigarette. Tell the people in your life that you've made this decision. They will help you and support you and give you the encouragement you need when you're feeling the pull of temptation. You don't have to do this alone.

Finally, remember that perfection isn't the goal. If you make a mistake and give in to temptation, remember that a mistake doesn't have to become a failure. It's just a momentary lapse. Recognize it as such and move on. One cigarette doesn't have to become a habit. Don't think about that one mistake. Think about all the smoke-free days you enjoyed before it. Think about all the smoke-free days you'll enjoy after it. Armed with these stop smoking tips, some self-confidence, and a little help from your friends, you can kick this habit once and for all.
