Absolutely. Envision a rewarding life free of intense anxiety and panic.  It will be hard to obtain if your life is full of panic attacks.  And if you have one of these attacks, you’re likely to have more.

Many of these attack sufferers realize that their fears are unsubstantiated but aren’t sure how to get rid of them.  They quite often feel ashamed and powerless.  Consequently, many sufferers don’t seek help.

If you allow your attacks to go untreated, you can develop serious physical and mental problems including alcohol abuse, depression, performance anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), feelings of being cut off from society, feelings of being abnormal and even agoraphobia (the fear of public or open spaces).

Your first step in treating your attacks is to see a doctor.  He’ll first need to diagnose that you do, indeed, have panic attacks.  He can then work with you on treatments.

Treatments vary from therapies to medications to lifestyle changes to relaxation techniques to breathing techniques to natural remedies to thought processes and more.  You may very well need more than one form of treatment.  Your doctor can help you tailor the best plan to treat your attacks.

Learning further about these attacks will also make you feel more informed and in control.  This additional knowledge will also make it easier for you to communicate with your doctor and to understand the treatment process.

And don’t rule out support groups.  The additional support from people going through the same thing can be invaluable for some individuals.

Once you start to gain control over your attacks, you’ll fear them less and they’ll slowly start to dissipate.
