If you have a child who simply can't seem to get through the night without having a bedwetting accident then they may very well have a condition known as nocturnal enuresis.  If you've tried everything that your doctor has recommended and nothing has worked, then you may want to focus on managing the problem while hoping for a cure and the first line of defense in managing this incontinence is waterproof mattress protection.

It's interesting that society doesn't place any stigma on other human conditions but does on bedwetting and incontinence.  If your eyesight fails you get glasses, if your hearing needs help you get a hearing aid and if you have dental problems you get dentures and nobody thinks a thing about it.  But if you have to wear diapers or protect your bed from bedwetting then there is something "wrong" with you.

It probably stems from the fact that the population at large commonly suffers from deficiencies in sight, hearing and dental problems but only a relatively small number suffer from incontinence and even fewer from nocturnal enuresis.  However, your child will pick up on the fact that wearing a diaper to bed is somehow wrong and it can have a major impact on the way they interact with their peers.

But if no medical cure is available, and lifestyle changes have not helped, then management is the last option available.  Waterproof mattress protection in the form of a cover or pad can keep your child from waking up in a wet mess each morning and minimize the risk of damage to the mattress itself.

You may opt to have your child wear incontinence underwear at night as well.  This doubles the protection and reduces the risk of rashes forming on the skin.  Nocturnal enuresis can't always be cured but with waterproof mattress protection and other incontinence products, your child can live a normal lifestyle without fear of an accident.
