Did you know that the Law of Attraction is a central law that is supported by at least eleven other laws? Many people who watched The Secret have wondered why it seems to work only sporadically for them, but it is because they are not aware of these other supporting laws. One of them, and it is a difficult one, is the Law of Forgiveness.

It is strange to realize that we humans are, in fact, powerful beings, able to create the reality we experience through the thoughts we choose to think, - but when it comes to forgiveness, many of us act as though we would rather lose a limb than commit that one simple, freeing act.

I want to make it clear to you right now that your ability to forgive someone for a real or perceived wrong, is one of the most empowering abilities you can exercise.

Try and understand it like this: for as long as you see yourself as having been wronged, you are placing yourself in the role of a victim, - and a victim is powerless.

For the Law of Attraction to work with more consistency it is vital that you begin to see yourself as a powerful being, magnetized with creative energy. This gives your thoughts more power to create what you want in your life.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that all of your thoughts, not just your positive ones, create your experience. So, if on the one hand you are thinking, "I'm so happy and grateful now that I have a wonderful new job," and then the next thought is something along the lines of, "Not like my last job, working for Mr. Grinch, putting in all those extra hours and never claiming overtime, and then he goes and fires me because I was so exhausted that I made a mistake."

It is not just a case whereby your first thought is cancelled out by your second thought. The real problem is that because you have not forgiven Mr. Grinch, your second thought is highly charged with negative emotional energy. It does not just cancel out the first thought. It overpowers it completely.

If you continue thinking in this manner, you are setting yourself up for more of the same. Yes, you may find a wonderful job with a great boss…but he may leave and be replaced by another Mr. Grinch, and the end result would be the same.

So, how do you go about forgiving someone you believe has wronged you? Well, here is one technique that has worked for me.

Write down the incident. If it is something that has happened more than once, write down those incidents that are the most emotionally charged.

Then, rewrite it (or them) in the third person. For example, instead of:

I had just finished putting in another fifteen-hour day when Mr. Grinch came in and fired me because of a mistake I made with the Petty Cash.

Write:

He (or she) had just finished putting in another fifteen-hour day when Mr. Grinch came in and fired him (or her) because of a mistake they had made due to exhaustion.

You would be surprised at the emotional detachment that will take place by doing this simple but powerful exercise.

Now, every time you think of the incident(s), instead of trying to resist the thoughts, try to think of them as having happened in the third person. As you continue to do this the emotional charge behind the incidents will have weakened to such an extent that you will find yourself bored by them. At this point, you will find it fairly easy to say, "I forgive Mr. Grinch, and I intend to move on with my life."

Once freed of the strong emotions connected with the incident(s), your mind will have no further reason to think about them. At this point, you will find it increasingly easier to concentrate on what you want in your life, and the Law of Attraction will no longer be blocked.
