We all want to know how to get rid of acne fast. Wouldn't it be nice if we can get rid of those acne overnight?
While getting rid of acne overnight is almost impossible, it is possible to do so in a short period of time, if you consider 7 days a short period. However, it is important to get the facts right first.
The truth is, acne is surrounded by myths. And believing theses myths may cause more harm than good. In this article, we shall attempt to bust some of these myths.
Here are some myths surrounding acne.
1) Acne Myth Number One: Sunlight Can Get Rid Of Acne
Suitable exposure to sunlight is definitely great for our health. After all, sunlight helps our body to generate vitamin D. But to say that sunlight can cure acne is a bit of overkill.
Don't forget that over exposure to sunlight can cause sun burn. Prolonged over exposure may even cause skin cancer. Imagine what it can do for acne problems?
So you can see what happens if this myth is taken too seriously! You should instead strive to protect your face from over exposure to sunlight. Any exposure should only be kept to a minimum level.
2) Acne Myth Number Two: You Can Wash Away Your Acne
Some people may have this idea that acne is caused by "dirty" face. So the natural solution is to wash your face more often. When your face is not dirty, the acne will go away by itself.
Not a good idea, definitely. Everything should be done in moderation, washing included. Unless you are in a situation which requires more washing, you should only wash your face about twice per day.
Washing acne prone skin too often can cause irritation which may result in more unwanted breakouts.
3) Acne Myth Number Three: You Can Pop Your Pimples Away
Definitely not! Don't ever try to do it. It will simply cause more irritation to your skin and can lead to even more breakout and scarring. Not to mention that it can be quite painful to do so.
4) Acne Myth Number Four: The Food You Eat Can Cause Acne Breakouts
I have been quite hesitant to include this as a myth. The reason is because I personally believe that the food you eat can have an effect on your acne, especially unhealthy greasy food.
However, there are also arguments that the food you eat has no direct impact on acne breakouts. So, with 2 conflicting views, who should you listen?
Well, regardless of your stand, wouldn't it make more sense to choose a more healthy diet? It might not help directly to get rid of your acne but it will certainly lead to a healthier body. And who knows, a healthier body might help to combat acne?
