No one enjoys dealing with acne but sometimes it just cannot be avoided. When blackheads present themselves, it is simply tempting to get rid of them overnight no matter the cost of doing so. However, this is definitely not recommended and it is best that you can deal with the condition with some patience.

The fact is that blackheads are particularly tricky to remove and if done improperly can lead to unsightly scars. This is something that nobody will want. To ensure that the face is free of scars once the acne has disappeared, it is best to avoid those side effects by not trying to force the acne away in an improper way.

Having suffered from blackheads before, I understand the temptation to squeeze, smash, scrape or even plucked that little black stuff out of your face. However, this is exactly how severe scarring can appear.

Perhaps, the best way to handle blackheads is to gain a more thorough understanding or what exactly they are. Only by doing so can you proceed to caring for blackheads in a proper manner.

So, what caused blackheads? Well, blackheads are caused by clogged pores. The reason for it being black is because of a reaction that causes the discoloring. Unlike whiteheads that result in a pustule on the surface of the skin, blackheads will not cause this problem. Instead, it will be level with the skin, except that it is black in color.

Perhaps, the most important question to answer is this, "How can I avoid blackheads in the first place and what should I do if it is too late and blackheads have already appeared?"

Well, unfortunately, there is no surefire way to prevent blackheads from occurring. However, proper hygiene can definitely be a great help. Sometimes, over the counter medications can be very effective in alleviating the breakouts but there are also times when they are not as effective.

If blackheads have already occurred, it is best to make use of products that are specifically designed to remove them. As tempting as it might be, don’t ever use tweezers, fingernails or other physical methods to pluck them out. All these actions can cause permanent scars to occur.

Instead, you can consider using drug store strips that are specially designed to pull out blackheads. However, if the situation is really bad, it may be better to seek a medical professional for help. While it can be more expensive, it is definitely worth it.
