Your step to quit Smoking may not be as easy as it sounds but with perseverance and determination, nothing is impossible. Many smokers feel that the toughest part of smoking is to give it up for good. There are many who have returned to smoking after giving up on their resolve after a few days of trying. Smoking does have its share of withdrawal symptoms when you try to quit and if you are able to go against all those minor symptoms, we are sure that you will never choose to return to smoking in your lifetime again.

How does a person know if he is ready to quit or is just doing it because others are telling him to? A person who is a regular smoker should understand that he is quitting because he wants to and it is of his own free will otherwise somewhere down the road he would feel the urge to return and there would not be any pangs of guilt. Writing down a list of how many packets you smoke a day, why do you smoke, what triggers the urge etc. can help in getting you the reasons for trying to quit smoking. Once you are equipped with the reasons to stop smoking, you can chalk out a program for yourself that will help you get over the habit.

Here are some questions that a person who wants to follow the steps to quit smoking should be able to answer. These answers would give you a clear view as to how to go about getting rid of nicotine forever. Ask yourself if you are quitting for yourself. You can have three objectives: Yes, Maybe, No. Tick the appropriate answer which you feel is right. The second question is to find out if you understand that smoking is bad for your health again answer it according to what you feel. If health reasons are not stopping you from quitting are there any other reasons that make you want to quit? Do your friends and family encourage you or support your cause to quit? Are you willing to make any changes in your lifestyle to stop smoking? Can you make your top priority as stop smoking for several long weeks?

If you are able to answer these few questions, you definitely would be able to find the ways to curb the habit. After all we were not born smokers and somewhere down the way we go into it, now let's find the steps to quit smoking and lead a better life. Life is a privilege and we must enjoy it without any addiction.
