Anyone who has ever suffered with a hernia knows the condition is definitely unpleasant and needs to be treated as soon as possible to prevent complications. Unfortunately, one of those treatments is the subject of a major lawsuit. The hernia mesh recall class action suits come after a long list of problems arose from the use of the device. Now former patients are seeking out a Kugel mesh patch recall lawyer to help them recoup their losses.

When the Kugel hernia treatment was approved by the FDA back in 1996, it was hailed as a more cost effective and safe method of treating hernias when compared to laparoscopic repair. However, shortly after 2002 problems with the problem began to arise. These problems have been the basis for the hernia mesh recall class action activity and continue to be a serious issue for past and present patients who were surgically treated using the device.

The purpose of the mesh device was meant to reduce complications by creating a so-called tension free healing method. Because the mesh was used to allow the hernia to heal and to re-grow without doing further damage to the weakened muscle walls that have been perforated, it was believed this method would be a wiser option. Unfortunately, the Kugel mesh patch recall lawyer information suggests otherwise.

Most of the reports of problems indicate that the device, which includes two pieces of synthetic mesh fabric surrounded by a coil, has been breaking after being inserted surgically into patients. The breakages have caused damage to patients’ internal organs. Bowel obstructions, fistulas in the intestines, and bowel perforations have also been the result. All of these problems have required further medical attention and, in some cases, have resulted in life-threatening consequences. All of the problems have caused patients further pain and suffering beyond what they were initially experiencing with the hernia.

Because of these continued problems and because of the continued risk to patients, at least one Kugel mesh patch recall lawyer has gotten involved in the situation. The goal is not only to gain financial relief and compensation to clients who have been affected but to use the hernia mesh recall class action suits as a way to bring greater attention to this problem so fewer patients will be affected in the future.
