According to Diagnostics and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, drug dependence is a negative way of making use of a substance that causes a number of problems which leads to taking more of the said drug to get intoxicated. Drug dependence according to many teen treatment centers , also pertains to issues that happen (withdrawal symptoms) when the effects of the drug wane, taking more of a drug for a longer time than needed and other problems in life that happen due to using one type of drug or more. The ambience or the atmosphere is enough to turn a seemingly sober person get into drugs. Let me cite you a real life incident. 18 year old Bryan Thompson was a DJ at an up-market night club in California. This club always used to throng with youngsters and teenagers who would have a good time. Among dancing and drinking, there were also some teenagers who would take drugs including Ecstasy Bryan who was just a DJ would play songs on the turntable and entertain people. One day one of the people in that group offered a snort to Bryan. Though he was personally against drugs, he decided to take it for a lark. Soon he found himself entering into a phase when he would take drugs occasionally. In a span of two months, Bryan was found taking more and more of drugs and hanging around with this juvenile crowd. He drifted away from DJing and he would come to the night club to actually take drugs. There was another replacement DJ that would play the songs while he would find excuses to leave the turntable to be with these druggies. Bryan who was now jobless and had to pay for his college asked for his parents to pay money for his college. Though they paid, they found that Bryan had actually used up his financial reserves and pocket money, into buying drugs. Though the parents reprimanded him, it fell into deaf years. One day while Bryan was taking drugs and puffing away to glory in a corner of the night club, there was a raid by the anti-narcotics wins. The police stormed in and arrested people who were operating the club to perpetrate drug addiction. The club owner was arrested and so was this group who had managed to influence many people into taking drugs. Bryan was arrested too and he had to face a lot of ridicule and embarrassment. Though he was released later on bail, he was actually sent to a teen treatment centers along with many teens so that they could be rehabilitated. The teen treatment center which was financed by a charity organization treated Bryan comprehensively. With a system of medication, individual and group therapy, they were able to transform the careless guy into someone who was responsible for his life. Bryan regretted that he had wasted his life meandering along without an aim in life as he was influenced by dopers who had nothing else to do but spoil lives of people. Now Bryan is a changed boy and has stopped taking drugs forever.
