An acne detoxification is the process of eliminating acne-causing bacteria from the body.  The main acne-causing agent is sebum, but there are many other toxins and bacterias inside the body that contribute to acne as well.  When these bacterias are eliminated through a detox, the skin is left healthy, glowing, and acne-free!  However, a "detox" doesn't have to be as daunting as it may sound.  Here are 10 simple ways to get started:

1.  Drink LOTS of water.  I mean tons of water.  At least 2 quarts every day, but try to drink even more.  Drinking water is what will flush out your system, taking all that bad bacteria with it!

2.  Drink herbal detox teas.  You can buy good herbal teas at any health food store, and they come specially blended for detoxification purposes.  The herbs are going to help protect your liver, kidneys, and digestive system from unwanted toxins getting inside!

3.  When eating fruits and veggies, choose only organic. There are pesticides on any fruit or vegetable not labeled organic, and ingesting these poisons will only make it harder to successfully detoxify!

4.  Do not eat any meat or dairy products! These are heavy and will quickly clog up your system!  A detox just can't be done while consuming meat and dairy.

5.  Take an herbal laxative each night. This one is optional, because some people don't like the unpleasant side effects of laxatives.  However, it will dramatically speed up the process of eliminating unwanted materials in the body, and is highly recommended.

6.  Take a daily detox supplement. These are special blends of purifying herbs that aid in the acne detoxification process.  A few to look for when making your supplement purchase are dandelion, burdock root, and milk thistle.

7.  Cleanse your skin with an all-natural cleanser. Avoid using chemicals like benzoyl peroxide during a detox - these chemicals are absorbed into the body and force the liver to work twice as hard as it needs to!

8.  Don't any make-up for the duration of the detox.Make-up will clog your pores and make it harder for your skin to breath and heal.

9.  Stay active. Physical activity will boost blood flow and keep the body working at a constant pace.  The more activity you get, the easier oxygen will be able to flow to you cells, equaling quicker healing of the skin!

10.  Eat as many fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds as possible. If you can, eat nothing BUT these foods for the duration of your detox.  This will give you the best possible results!
