The alcohol can help them deal with all of the running around they have to do for their children. The soccer mom type has so many activities on a day to day basis she does not know which end is up. Once she is done with her day she may have a few glasses of wine to help her unwind. Eventually it comes to the point of her needing the wine everyday to be able to relax. Then it starts that she has a drink with lunch to help her make it through the rest of her day. The mom is on her way to becoming an alcoholic.

The soccer mom will usually hide most of her drinking. She will wait until she is all alone and then let go. When she has a few drinks at a social get together, there is nothing said. After all, such a wonderful mom would not have a problem with alcohol. This is why the problem is not caught until it is out of control.

There are many reasons a mom will turn to alcohol. Maybe her husband works long hours and is never around. Maybe she has problems with depression and no one to talk to. Whatever the reason, alcoholism is a very serious problem. Moms need to have time to their selves. They need a supportive spouse who can recognize when the mom has taken on too much responsibility. They need to have a day off every now and then.

If you are a mom and you have a problem with alcohol you need to talk to someone. Your family could be at risk. They need you to be strong and healthy for them. Just as you need to be strong and healthy for yourself. If you are drinking to get through the day you need to get some help. You do not have to be supermom. It is ok to say no once in a while.
