The alpha brain waves can be best defined as electromagnetic rhythmic and periodic activity of the neuron nervous cells in the brain and particularly in the thalamus. These have frequencies between 8 Hz and 12 Hz – this means that they come in eight to twelve cycles per second. Usually these waves are produced simultaneously throughout both hemispheres of the brain, but it is also not odd for them to be discovered in the right one solely.
