These days, dentists have started using computers to aid them while performing various dental procedures. When you come across the term CEREC dentists the next time think about the previously mentioned statement. By now, you might have come across various dental clinics proudly exhibiting their CEREC-enabled gadgets. In the rest of the passages, I will be outlining some aspects that have been associated with dentists who regularly seek the aid of computerized devices. Any dental procedure can be augmented and this will prove to be highly beneficial to the dentist. CEREC is widely employed by dentists to help those people who have lost a couple of teeth. Previously, it was a painstaking experience for the dentist and the patient. The doctor was required to spend considerable time studying the existing layout of the teeth. Once he gained an ample idea, he used to "experiment" with the patient. Do not be alarmed by that term - I meant that the dentist would incorporate a new replacement (artificial) tooth in the subsequent weeks. The patient was required to visit the dentist at regular intervals. In the process, the dentist used to make suitable modifications to the newly implanted tooth. The process continued until the patient was satisfied with the replaced tooth. Nowadays, the dentists follow a different procedure. Instead of spending more time by studying the existing layout of the teeth themselves, they do the same with the help of computers. CEREC based dentistry is all about using computers in order to generate a three dimensional view of the teeth. The software that is loaded into these systems will reduce the time required for the dentist to order a porcelain tooth replacement for the patient. Consider a computer studying the individual tooth and designing a replacement that will fit in appropriately! That is CEREC in action! How does the machine know about the existing teeth architecture? Well, the process is done with the help of a specially designed camera that is inserted into the mouth. The same camera does the entire "three dimensional photography thingy". One has to realize that the software that is loaded into the computer system is worthy of praise. In simpler terms, most of the CEREC dentists employ a computer aided design software program to generate imprints of the teeth. Once the design is generated, the dentist is given two options. He can (a) generate the replacement tooth then and there itself or (b) send the design to a specialist who will design a porcelain replacement tooth. Usually dentists opt for (b) because it saves them considerable time. Once the replacement tooth is ready, the CEREC dentist does not have to waste any time, polishing or trimming it to fit in the mouth! In short, the entire ordeal can be completed within two sessions - one for taking a three dimensional photo and the other for fixing the teeth into the jawbone. Specialized screws made from titanium are employed for the purpose because the jawbone can "grow" over the screws.
