If you have always wanted to improve the appearance of your teeth, or if your teeth are showing early signs of damage that will inevitably get worse if it goes unchecked; but you also fear facing the dentist's drill, then you may find this brief discourse on dental veneers interesting.

As their name suggests, dental veneers are just that: veneers (elaborately made coatings/covers) that created for use on teeth, and which are placed on top of teeth with an aim to improve the appearance of the teeth, or to protect such teeth from direct exposure to 'elements' that could be causing it damage.

In such dental veneers, we find the opportunity to improve the appearance of our teeth without having to submit to the so-called dental bleaching, which comes with potential for some quite off-putting side effects. These include cases where people who opted for dental bleaching earlier on find themselves with faced with severe dental sensitivity today (the strong bleaches having corroded the protective enamel on the teeth), with the people in question often facing a lot of discomfort in processing hot or cold substances in their mouths. Before the advent of dental veneers, a person faced with severely stained teeth would find themselves with an option of either living with the social and economic disadvantage that having such stained teeth can cause them, or submitting to dental bleaching, with all potential side effects of it, both awful things to have to choose from. But thanks to dental veneers, there is a third option, where rather than living with the stained teeth, or having to get them bleached, they can simply cover them up with a veneer, and come out with what are for all purposes and intents, excellent looking teeth. There never was an easier way to acquire perfect looking teeth.

Then there the cases of teeth with minor (early) signs of damage, which will inevitably deteriorate if nothing is done about them. The problem is, of course, that the only thing that can be done about such teeth is having them drilled, to get rid of the pathogens causing the damage. And the drilling, well, suffice it to say that it is nowhere near a massage in terms of comfort: it can be extremely painful and uncomfortable, however kind a dentist you happen to have. In a situation like this, the dental veneers come in handy too, offering a more comfortable alternative to drilling in protecting the teeth in question from further damage...and giving their 'owner' a third alternative between just sitting on the damage (with the potential for bigger damage that would inevitably call for extraction) or submitting to the dentists drill, which as we have seen, can be a bit uncomfortable.

Moreover, if you happen to be suffering from dental phobia, where the idea of visiting a dentist's surgery scares the hell out of you (and where you would rather go to hell itself than enter a dentist's surgery), you will be glad to learn that 'do it yourself' dental veneer kits exist, that you can use to brighten or protect your teeth, without actually ever having to sit on the dreaded dentist's chair.
