Are anti-depressants modern miracles or unnecessary?
I don't want anyone to think that I'm bashing the United States health care system, or Big Pharmaceuticals, or Uncle Sam...but, powerful prescription drugs should be a last resort not a first line of defense.
Anxiety and lexapro should go hand in hand if all else fails. That has been my approach, and I have definitely beaten this horrible affliction.
It's common sense, drugs should be a last line of defense, not the first.
But, doctors are handing these drugs (like Lexapro) out like candy and they have more side effects than you can shake a stick at. Low libido, inablity to orgasm, nausea, insomnia, sleepiness, trouble with concentration, and on and on.
You've already got panic attacks (racing heart, feelings of unreality, feeling like you can't breathe) do you really need those other side effects too?
Lexapro, as you probably know, is an anti-anxiety medication that's very popular for treating panic attacks in recent years, It is widely recommended for treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder or panic attacks.
It's popular because some people are placing blind faith in doctors without at least trying some other methods first. And, of course some people are just looking for an easy way out.
You don't have to be a pill popper to succeed against your anxiety. I am living proof.
Magnesium and Fresh Produce:
Magnesium is often referred to as nature's own tranquilizer. It has amazing "drug-like" properties when taken in sufficient dosages. I would recommend starting with 200mg a day in supplement form and working your way up to as high as 800mg.
It's incredible for relieving stress and calming your internal anxiety.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, you can never ever eat enough. They don't just drop your risk for cancer, they also alkalize your body, which in turn calms your sympathetic nervous system allowing you to chill. A diet heavy in meat and bread, like we eat in America, needs to be balanced by these alkaline foods!
Exercise:
I know, I know you might hate exercise, but did you know that exercise is just about the only way to help you reach deeper levels or delta sleep at night?
When we get into these deep sleep states our body repairs itself both physicially and mentally/emotionally. Try it!
Cognitive Methods:
Next, you're ready for some cognitive techniques. These methods bust anxiety at the root of the problem and are highly effective.
Probably the most effective thing I use everyday!
Anxiety and lexapro don't have to go hand in hand, they don't even have to go together at all!
The first line of defense is always safe and natural techniques...these are often the most powerful of all. Affordable. Simple. No side effects.
