Electronic cigarettes are becoming increasingly popular after they sprung into the market claiming to be the safer smoking alternative. Some people still remain sceptical about these devices and may question whether they are actually safe at all.

The science behind electronic cigarettes suggests that they are a safer smoking alternative because they do not contain any form of tobacco, which has been proven to be related to smoking related illnesses rather than nicotine.

If you want to buy an electric cigarette you will need to know just how the devices work. Electronic cigarettes work by using advanced microelectronic technology and come with parts that are replaceable or refillable. You can buy electric cigarettes that are disposable but having a device that is re-usable seems to be one of the draws of electronic cigarettes.

The device is made up of few parts and is designed to give the look and feel of smoking a real cigarette. If you buy an electric cigarette you will find when you use it you will receive the nicotine dose you require and will emit a smoke-like vapour which is odourless and harmless. This is another benefit as electronic cigarettes don't pose a risk of passive smoking.

Electronic cigarettes are battery powered devices that contain liquid nicotine which becomes vaporised once the user inhales on the device. The liquid nicotine contained within the nicotine chamber is drawn into the atomisation chamber where it is heated up by the battery thus turning it into a vapour which the user inhales. Electronic cigarettes are non-flammable and contain no tobacco or tobacco smoke.

You may want to buy an electric cigarette in order to kick your smoking habit, or because it is safer than smoking tobacco products. But you cannot buy electric cigarettes in all countries as there are restrictions placed upon them in some places.

Currently in the UK and the United States, the devices are unrestricted however in Brazil, Panama, Canada and Singapore, electronic cigarettes are banned. You should not buy electric cigarettes if you are under the age of 18 or if you are a non-smoker. In some countries, electric cigarettes can only be used as a form of prescribed medicine- for example in New Zealand. In Australia and Denmark you may buy electric cigarettes but you are only permitted to use them if they do not contain the liquid nicotine.
