The rate, at which teens are maturing, both physically and mentally, is alarming. Though it’s a sign of something seriously wrong at some level, yet people offer their own diverse explanations to this issue, and most often, these are either half correct or completely misplaced. Consider this, for example. Some parents blame the degradation of education system and schools for the rot, conveniently forgetting the same education system is producing geniuses in the fields of science, technology, medicine, art, etc. There are others who blame media onslaught on the impressionable minds of teens as the main villain without taking into account the positive role media is playing to bring about desirable changes in all spheres of life.

So, where does the fault lie? Are teen magazines responsible for degrading morals among our younger generation? The answer to this question can’t be a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. Rather, the fault lies somewhere in between. Undoubtedly, teen magazines have a large-scale fan following among teenagers. This is simply because the issues covered in depth by these magazines are not dealt with by anyone anywhere. These issues are not just vital for the proper development of the teens, but also interest them a lot. Until the society keeps ignoring the importance of issues affecting teenagers, the results achieved by these teen magazines will be mixed.

There may be some publications that are responsible for ‘sexualizing’ the content and thereby, leaving an undesirable effect on teenagers, but not all teen magazines are at fault. There are some useful ones that can be both educational and offer healthy entertainment, especially catered to the interests of teens.

For instance, American Cheerleader is full of expert tips on training and health advice, as well as a Coach’s Clinic to answer readers’ questions. Listen is another magazine that is advisable for teens. It covers true stories and celebrity interviews that encourage the teens to avoid drugs and alcohol. The creative instincts of teens need an outlet that they normally don’t get. Teen Graffiti is one magazine that gives them an opportunity to publish their creative work and opinions on the issues that affect their lives, like love, family, community service, etc.

As a responsible parent, it is your duty to gift your teen son or daughter a teen magazine that offers education and healthy entertainment every month. You can explore the Internet for cheap teen magazine subscriptions
