If you are riding a Specialized bike, chances are you are an experienced rider, and you paid lots and lots of money for your bike. The last thing you need is to get tossed when the bike fails you! You need to be aware of the recalls Specialized Bikes has made on some of their handlebars and cable-stops before you harm yourself. If you have already been hurt due to one of these product defects, you need to talk to an attorney that can thoroughly tell you about your rights and claims.
The first Specialized recall relates to breaking handlebars. This recall involves HL handlebars on the following 2009 Specialized bicycles: Cross Trail Comp, Myka HT Comp, Myka HT Elite, Rockhopper, Rockhopper Comp and Rockhopper Comp 29. The model number of the HL handlebar is ALR-13 NTFOV and is located underneath the right hand grip of the handlebar. One rider had the handlebars break, causing a crash and head trauma.
Specialized Bikes did another recall in 2004 because of loosening cable stops. The following Specialized Bikes all fall under the recall: 2004 Roubaix Comp 18, 2004 Roubaix Comp 27, 2004 Roubaix Pro 18, and 2004 Roubaix Pro frame set models. The recall is only for bicycles having a single rivet fastening the cable stop, and not for those having a double rivet. These recalled bikes attach their cable stop using bonding materials and a single rivet at the front of the bicycle. The Specialized Bikes model names listed can be found on the top tube of the bicycles. Take this recall seriously, another rider had the cable stop loosen and he lost control, crashed, and ended up with serious fractures and getting surgery.
If you currently own or ride any Specialized Bike model listed, stop immediately. You should contact your bike dealer and have the parts replaced before you ride again. Do not worry about the cost, Specialized Bikes will pay the bills! Any unfortunate person who has suffered injury from these defected parts, there is hope for you. Contact a product liability attorney who will be able to make you aware of your rights and claims.
Nate Bjerke in the past defended giant manufacturing companies and is experienced in handling product liability cases. Now he fights on your side, against the same type of people he worked for. If you have recently been harmed and Specialized Bikes is at fault, learn what a personal injury lawyer can do for you.
