Adjustments are one of the biggest challenges for people that are new to wearing hearing aids. Today's hearing devices are capable of a wide range of adjustments that can allow users to take advantage of optimal settings for different listening environments. Yet having to change settings as you move from a room to a large open area or outdoors can be a real challenge or at the very least, a major inconvenience.

Today many hearing devices come with automated features that handle adjustments automatically. There's no need for users to think about changing settings as their environments shift. This remarkable technology takes all of the "work" out of wearing hearing aids, and users benefit in multiple ways.

Automated aids for hearing have the ability to interpret environmental shifts. If you move from a quiet room with slight background noise to a busy cafeteria, sound changes are recognized. Automated aids will adjust volume up or down and change microphone directionality to match the source of sound. When predefined settings are automatically triggered, there's no fussing around trying to gain control of hearing devices.

Hearing devices that are automated can be programmed with your preferred settings. With very little effort, they can also "learn" your preferred hearing settings and adapt to environments in highly personalized ways.

With automated aids, there's no need to deal with piercing feedback when you pick up the phone, adjust your hat or pull on a hood. Devices adjust automatically to suppress that annoying whistling noise hearing aid users have struggled to avoid for years.

These devices may also provide a signal to alert wearers when batteries are running low. There's no surprise battery failure in the middle of a romantic dinner, at the movies or on an important conference call.

Automation allows wearers to enjoy the maximum benefits of hearing devices without lifting a finger. This makes it much, much easier to adapt to wearing them in the first place. Users automatically have access to the best possible hearing from the time they put their hearing aids in each morning until they take them out at night. There's no doubt about whether or not they "work," as optimum hearing occurs naturally.

Devices that automate environmental settings are also easy to adjust to for those that are used to manually controlling their aids. One push of a button allows wearers to switch to manual control for those who prefer or are used to more control over their hearing settings. In time, automated settings can be used more often as the person used to manual adjustments adjusts to the new technology.

Easy manual override options are also perfect for environments that don't fit the "standard" settings modes. For example, if you're trying to have a private conversation in a very big place with different levels of background noise you may also want to hear, manual settings may be the best choice. In cases such as this, automation can help by providing a nearly ideal setting for you to work with manually.
