The Aztec calendar is a very interesting piece of work, similar to the Mayan Calendar. So what is the connection between the Aztec Calendar, 2012 and the doomsday predictions? In this article I will explain how the Aztec Calendar works and how this relates to 2012. The calendar was carved into stone in 1476 during the 6th Aztec Monarch by the Aztec people, who lived in central Mexico. Both the Aztec calendar and the older and more known Mayan calendar are mesoamerican calendars, and are therefore very much alike. The Aztec version consist of 2 separated rounds. One of these has a 365 day cycle, while the other has a 260 day cycle. The 365 day calendar is divided into 18 periods of 20 days plus 5 "unlucky days", while the 260 day calendar is divided into 20 periods of 13 days. The shorter one was used for religious purposes while the longer calendar was used for agricultural purposes as well as determining when to have specific ceremonies. There was also a longer 52 year count, which was known as a century. At the beginning of every century the 2 calendars would align. So what does the Aztec people say about 2012? Well their calendar shares the same structure as the one used by the Mayans, and therefore this also ends on December 21, 2012. What this means nobody knows. Unfortunately the Spanish destroyed most of the Mayan writings when they invaded in the 17th century. If they had not destroyed this, then there is a good chance we would have known why their calendar ends on December 21, 2012. In this article entitled Aztec calendar 2012 , I've talked about the Aztec Calendar but not so much 2012. For the best 2012 information, and to find out what really is going to happen in 2012, then you must check out this website: /
