This has been substantiated by various research studies. Best Brain Cancer Treatment Center But there was very little known how these beneficial changes are mediated in a rodent's body. Now there is evidence from a new study that answers that question. Endocrinology, journal of The Endocrinology Society, reports the brain has a key role in mediating resveratrol's anti-diabetic actions. This finding is potentially pointing the direction for future orally-delivered diabetes medications which target the brain.

Sirtuins, a class of proteins that many think are stimulated by the bioflavonoid, resveratrol, and this leads to the positive effects of calorie restriction. There have been a number of animal studies, using mice that have provided strong evidence that when sirtuins are activated by resveratrol, diabetic symptoms are improved. Research is now testing sirtuin stimulators in human volunteers as anti-diabetes medications.

Sirtuins are revealed almost everywhere throughout the body, and little has been known about what tissues mediate resveratrol's positive effects. If it was known where in the body the effects from sirtuin activation by resveratrol it would make it much easier for the pharmaceutical companies to develop more effective targeted diabetes medications.

Scientist know sirtuins interact with parts of the brain known to govern glucose metabolism, therefore it has been hypothesized the brain could be mediating resveratrol's anti-diabetic actions. Roberto Coppari, PhD, tested the hypothesis by assessing the metabolic consequences of delivering resveratrol directly into the brain of diabetic mice. He says they found resveratrol did activate sirtuins in the brain of the mice, and this resulted in improving their high levels of blood sugar and insulin.

The findings of this research study could generate new strategies in the effort to find a better and more effective treatment for diabetes, type 2. Because they know the brain mediates resveratrol's anti-diabetic actions, the pharmaceutical industry can use this data in developing sirtuin stimulators which will directly target the brain. When they are able to orally-deliver the new drugs, they will likely improve diabetes with out interacting with other organs in the body in which activation of sirtuins may not always be beneficial.

My mission is to educate as many people as I can about Resveratrol and Quercetin. I believe both of these supplements are showing amazing promise in the research being conducted in such areas as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, obesity and also the brain. Both display another great set of advantages, low in cost and no side effects.
