Whenever a loving relationship ends badly, usually the dumped partner wants to know " How do I get over a bad break up ?"

It takes time but you will be able to move past your bad feelings.  Try to look at it this way.  You took a chance on a relationship, it didn't work out, you learned a lot and now it is time to take those lessons and find someone new to love.

Remember that there are four stages of grief when you are trying to get over a bad break up:

  1. Denial
  2. Depression
  3. Anger
  4. Acceptance

It can take a while to go through all four steps and your emotions are going to be a mess for awhile.  If you are trying to figure out how to get over a bad break up, that is good.  You are trying to get past this terrible time in your life and move on. Until you get to the acceptance stage, you will not be ready to move on and find someone else.

There are some things that you can do to help speed of the process and help you get over a bad break up.

  • When you are trying to get over a bad break up, the most important thing you can do is toreconnect with peoplethat will support you during this time.  Family and friends will listen to you when you need to vent and will help cheer you up.
  • Try using positive affirmationto help get over a bad break up.  Some people are familiar with affirmations and others are not.  When you are feeling down, tell yourself that "The right person is out there for me and I will find him or her."  You can also say this before you go to bed and when you get up in the morning.
  • Another way to get over a bad break up is tovolunteer to help somewhereso that you can get out of the house and realize that other people are going through a hard time too.  You are not alone and you will get through this.  Plus, it usually makes you feel better to help people during their time of need.
  • Exercise can also greatly boost your moodand help you get over a bad break up.  Put in a fun Tae Bo or Jane Fonda cd or any other type of exercise video that you like.  It will get your heart pounding and exercise is proven to improve how you feel.  Even if you just get out and take a walk, you will feel better.
  • You can alsogo online and find a chat roomand join in conversations that interest you.  I'm not advocating going online to trash your ex.  That isn't helpful and won't improve your mood.

If you have been asking "How can I get over a bad break up?" follow the tips above to feel better and get on with your life.You can get through this and there is someone out there for you.  The important thing is to not give up on relationships and bury yourself in your house.  The worst thing you can do is mop around and feel unwanted.  Find out how to get over a bad break up and find the person you are meant to be with.

Unfortunately, not everyone is ready to move on and let go of the ex.  If you really love your ex and want to get back together, it may not be too late.
