As we all know, there is no easy way to dump your boyfriend. Regardless of what you do, someone always winds up getting hurt. However, there are good ways to dump him without getting hurt too much. The question, however, is: Do you want to hurt him? If you're trying to get even with him, the answer to this is quite simple.

Don't get upset over the breakup, at least not in front of him. Have a good cry before the breakup; this should take away some of the pain and will make it less stressful to get through the actual breakup. Whatever you do, don't undermine his character. A lot of people make the mistake of screaming their heads off only to hurt themselves in the end. Then, when it is finally over, they are sorry for the way they acted.

If you don't want to end up in this unfortunate situation, now is the time to prep yourself. Make a list of your soon-to-be ex's great qualities. Highlight them during the breakup. And spin your reason for breaking up to your boyfriend's advantage. Mention something he's wanted to do for a long time. Make it sound like this is his opportunity to take that overseas trip he's been talking about for so long.

Whatever you do, avoid the 'It's not you, it's me line.' This makes it seem like you have no good reason for breaking up with him and don't want to give a reason. Instead, tell him specifically why it is time for you to move on, and give him a reason to pursue his freedom. If you've ever been broken up with, you know how frustrating it is when someone won't tell you why he or she is severing ties.

In the end, breaking up with your boyfriend may be the best thing for you. It's a great opportunity for him as well. Just don't forget to tell him that!
