Many women also undergo it in the hope of restoring the shape and size of their assets if they have had significant weight loss or pregnancy. During the surgery, the doctor will place an implant either under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle.
Many doctors believe that placing the implant under the muscle will lower the risk for capsular contracture, which is a condition that hardens the tissue around the implant. However, it interferes less with a mammography when the implant is under the breast tissue but in front of the muscle. Implants have a soft silicone shell and are usually filled with saline or a silicone gel such as methylcellulose gel. Saline, or saltwater, are used more often because the body will absorb the material if the implant leaks or ruptures.
The doctor will place an incision at the bottom of the breast, around the nipple or armpit. Many people also have a breast lift with an enlargement procedure, to raise a sagging bust. Usually the doctor will lift the breast by removing excess skin at the bottom, and may also remove the areola. The skin is then tightened to raise the bust. After the implant has been placed in the body properly, the incision is closed. Breast Armpit
