When considering getting any type of plastic surgery it's always a good idea to get the opinions of patients who have undergone the same procedure you are considering. While your doctor answers technical medical questions and can help you prepare for the physical affects of breast augmentation, they can't give you a first hand account of the emotional side effects of plastic surgery. Most plastic surgeons can't tell you what it's like to be a patient either. Every person is different in shape, size, color, etc. Therefore, every surgery and outcome is different. It's a good idea to talk to as many plastic surgery patients as you can find. There are many forums and chat rooms available for exactly this purpose. When speaking with patients, remember to ask a few specific questions.

1)      What was the reason you had breast augmentation done?

2)      What size of cup did you have before your procedure?

3)      Are you happy with your results?

4)      How has your breast augmentation affected your romantic relationships? Do you feel different about your marriage or relationship now than you did before surgery?

5)      How has your surgery affected your daily life?

6)      Has your surgery affected your work or how you feel about your job?

7)      If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?

8)      How much pain can I expect to be in?

9)      How long does the pain last?

10)   What kind of assistance at home will I need during the recovery stage?

11)   How much did your implants cost?

12)   How did you find your surgeon?

13)   Do doctors disclose how much augmentation costs or will I have to go in for a consultation to get this information?

14)   Under what circumstances would breast augmentation be covered by my health insurance?

15)   What are some good ways to prepare emotionally, mentally and physically for this operation?

16)  How long must I wait between the time of my consultation and the day of my surgery?

17)   What is the best part of breast augmentation?

18)   What is the worst part of breast augmentation?

19)   Did you experience any complications from your implants?

20)   Do the people that know you've had implants put in view you differently now?

21)   Has your body change affected the way people look at you in general?

Always shop around for the best surgeon for your needs. There is a surgeon just right for your needs out there.
