Being the father of the bride was difficult enough whilst she was still a small child and now she is grown up and ready to marry the love of her life. You will probably have contributed quite greatly towards the costs of the wedding and rightly so, you have been asked to speak in front of the audience at the wedding breakfast, but what do you say?

Talk About Relationships

Begin the speech by thanking everyone for making the journey to be at the wedding with your family today and make a special noted thank you to either those whom had a fair distance to travel or those whom have been ill and were not expected. Next, you can talk about your daughter's personality as a child and how you hoped that she would find the happiness in life that she so deserved. Point out similarities in how she is now as a fully-grown woman and thank her for always being herself.

You could even talk about the first time you met the groom. Here, you can be very blunt and honest as he might have been just a spotty teenager when you first met him. This could spark a few laughs within the audience but then remember to go and say how you watched them fall in love and you could see how well he treated your little girl for all of those years. That is all a father wants for his daughter after all, to be cared for and loved for the rest of her days.

Let it Flow

You have known your daughter for her entire life, so it makes sense that you will have hundreds of stories to tell about her. You obviously will not have enough time to tell them all, so try to pick out your favourites or even some that members of the audience will be able to recall for themselves. By having the ability to spark memories in others mind is a great tool, especially when in the middle of your father of the bride speech. Even though she might have been involved in mishaps or pure bad luck, let the audience know how nice it is to feel that if she ever goes through hardship again, it is good to know and understand that her new husband will pull her through it.

Make Thanks

Always finish your speech with making some special thanks to those whom have made the day what it is for her daughter and your new son-in-law. Always thank the happy couple first, show your thanks for making them the proud man that you are today. Then thank the new husbands' family for bringing up their son to be such a caring and passionate person, whom your daughter will no doubt love forever.

Thank you for the time you spent with me reading this article about brides father speech ! I'd also love to meet you on my blog to have a chance to tell you more about wedding speeches - actually you could start by browsing the category page for father and mother speeches away - you will want to share it with others!
