For those people who are trying to hard lose weight, mention the word chocolate and it will ignite that love-hate relationship within them. We are often told to stay away from chocolates as it is sinful and high in sugar and fats which will definitely derail your weight loss efforts for people who are dieting. Did you notice yourself reaching for that bar of chocolates or cookies when you are feeling sad or stressed up? Chocolates is one of the "comfort food" that we crave for whenever a bad mood strikes and such emotional swing triggers off emotional eating and unfortunately, these frequent indulgences can become sources of weight gain. Does that mean that we must swear off chocolates? The good news is NO, you don't! You do not have to stay away from all chocolates. Cocoa, an ingredient which dark chocolate has in abundance, contains antioxidants that are necessary for the body to fight harmful free radicals that cause heart disease and other types of ailments. - You may have thought that eating chocolate will increase your calorie consumption leading to higher cholesterol and blood pressure levels? Not for dark chocolates! Studies have shown that consuming dark chocolate actually helps to lower the cholesterol and blood pressure levels of the body.
- Dark chocolates are known to contain flavonoids, which are instrumental for keeping blood vessels more elastic.
- The flavonoids found in dark chocolates are said to also be a great help in reducing the risk of getting heart diseases because it helps by significantly keeping body fats from blocking the arteries.
Now that we know the health benefits of eating dark chocolates, it does that mean that you should start eating loads of chocolates now. Remember that moderation is the key and anything taken in excessiveness in not healthy.
