While normally called "buzzing ear", the medical term for this affliction is Tinnitus.

A person is said to have Tinnitus if the sounds they perceive have no external cause and go on for a while. You can have a buzzing ear or hear the buzzing in both ears. Apart from a buzzing ear, Tinnitus sufferers commonly perceive several different sounds in the ear, like ringing, clicking, waterfall-like sounds, whistling, hissing, roaring and more. From time to time, you may have a buzzing ear at times and hear whistling on another occasion!

Buzzing Ear - Top Tips:

Tip one: The very first thing to do if you've got an unrelenting buzzing ear is to visit your medical practitioner for a thorough physical assessment. Although rare, a buzzing ear is sometimes a sign of something more serious such as the narrowing of your carotid artery, a head or neck injury, cancer or even an aneurysm.

Tip two: Don't panic. As previously mentioned, the above "worst-case scenarios" are rare for people that have a buzzing ear. If you hear buzzing or any of the other noises I have talked about in both ears, the diagnosis of a serious issue is even more unlikely.

Tip three:  Most often a buzzing ear is brought about by incessant exposure to loud noises and / or music. The American Tinnitus Association suggests protecting your ears from more injury by putting on ear plugs and keeping your music soft!

Tip four: Buzzing ear or Tinnitus is a well-known consequence of a number of different kinds of pills. It is consequently exceptionally important that you divulge to your GP every pill you're taking daily, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you. For instance large quantities of aspirin have been identified as causing buzzing ear.

Tip 5: According to the American Tinnitus Association, there are millions of people globally that suffer from buzzing ear. Don't give up hope! I know of at least one Tinnitus sufferer who has found a cure for his buzzing ear!

Tip 6: The American Tinnitus Association also suggests that you do your own research from reputable sources; for example their own website and from other Tinnitus sufferers who have also been told by their GP that there was no physical reason for their buzzing ear!

Tip seven: Buzzing ear is made worse by stress and alcohol. It makes sense, therefore, to avoid drinking alcoholic drinks. Eliminating stress isn't simple ... particularly if your preferred way to relax was with a cold beer! Do try however, to figure out a different means of staying as calm as possible.

Tip eight: A number of people find some relief from their buzzing ear or ears by using "masking CDs" (CDs of "relaxing background noise" to divert their attention away from the tinnitus)

Tip 9: As previously stated, in my research I've come across at least one Tinnitus sufferer who discovered a way of curing his buzzing ear. He could be able to help you removing your buzzing ear too!
