Has it ever occurred to you that if you are thinking about something, even an event from the past, you are thinking about itnow. Whether the event was happy or sad, it is your present thoughts to which the Law of Attractionmustrespond. One of the biggest problems we run into when we are trying to use the Law of Attraction to change our lives for the better is that we have been conditioned to believe that events from the past have the power to influence and therefore limit us in the present.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Law of Attraction isalwaysresponding to our thoughts, - and by choosing different thoughts, we can transform our lives no matter how difficult an upbringing we had nor how traumatic an event in our past has affected us. Let me give you an example.
Over the past couple of years I have become a friend to a lovely young woman who lives in the apartment beside mine. The friendship has developed slowly...because she is petrified of people. So petrified that she never left her apartment, not even to step out onto her balcony.
I began doing her shopping for her and helping her out with little things. And as she has taught me about music appreciation (she was a music teacher), I shared with her my fascination with the Law of Attraction and the power of our thoughts.
She asked me if I thought the Law of Attraction could be used to help her, because every form of therapy and medication had thus far failed. As it turned out, several years earlier she had taken a wrong turn down a street and had suffered a horrific assault and been robbed, as well.
Now, I believe wholly in the Law of Attraction to manifest what we want in our lives, so I shared some exercises I do regularly and she tried them...but nothing worked. I asked her to describe what happened on the day of her traumatic experience. After working late on a music project at the school where she was teaching, she took a shortcut down a small street.
I suggested that she begin to relive every part of that experience, from the point where she walked out of the school tojustwhere she made the decision to turn down that street. At that point, she should imagine herself just continuing on the main road, as she always had before, and then getting safely home.
At first, just thinking about that day was an uphill grind for her, - but she persevered. She kept visualizing herself going past that street, and taking her usual route home. Gradually, after about six weeks, she noticed that the 'sting' of that day was gone. She recently described it to me as a funny sensation that what had happened had happened to someone else.
It's been a slow process, but she comes with me now when I walk my dog in the morning. We walk a little further every day. Did the Law of Attraction change the event? I'm afraid you would have to discuss that possibility with a quantum physicist. But the Law of Attraction took her thoughts of bypassing that street on that fateful day, and changed her emotional reaction in accordance with her mental imagery.
By changing our thoughts, the Law of Attraction can even remove the trauma of a past event. The past has no power over us except the power we give it through our thoughts.
