Car accident compensation claims vary incredibly in terms of the damages that may be awarded to those who are injured as a result of somebody else's negligence. In the most extreme cases, the victim or victims of road traffic and car accidents can receive multi-million pound settlements; however, seven-figure compensation deals are almost always only awarded where the victim has sustained catastrophic injuries.
In the UK, a record£11.5 million was awarded to Wasim Mohammedearlier this year after the 23-year-old was left tetraplegic following a car crash in 2006. Unable to move his legs, Mr Mohammed has limited function in his arms and requires constant care and attention. The compensation package awarded reflects Mr Mohammed's suffering, loss of earnings, medical and care expenses and special living arrangements.
Fortunately, not all car driver claims involve such devastating injuries; indeed, many car accident claims are settled at substantially lower sums and comprise relatively minor injuries. Notwithstanding this, it would be foolish to underestimate the potential severity of a condition such as whiplash , which is graded on a scale ranging from no symptoms at all to those that result from fractures, dislocations and so on. In short, the amount of compensation available to negligently injured drivers will vary on the severity of the injury and the extent of losses experienced.
As of April 30th 2010,car driver compensationclaimants in the UK will be able to benefit from a fast-track system that is designed to speed up the process for claims up to the value of £10,000.
