I'm often asked, "What is one of the most challenging issues couples face today?"

While every couple is different, there are themes that I see in my work as a couples counselor and relationship coach. One common issue is the difficulty couples have in prioritizing their relationship—a form ofrelationship neglect.

Relationship problems stemming from relationship neglect

Have you ever thought of yourself as neglectful? Probably not. When people...

Many people these days use spying methods on their cheating mates. But most of them are not aware that using spying equipment or surveillance services could be illegal. They could find themselves in real trouble unless they know the facts and the strict federal and state laws.

So you decide to buy some surveillanve equipment to spy on your cheating spouse.

Hidden cameras, listening devices or GPS tracking systems will allow you to monitor the activities of your...

Our 14 year old golden retriever, Rudy, died today. My wife, Pam, and I are grief stricken. Rudy was with us for more than half our married life. He was our hiking partner, our companion every day, our friend.

Thankfully, we have each other in our grief. And, we have had many grieving experiences together already. We've had some practice in how to do it.

Here's some of what we've learned over the years about sharing grief together. Telling you about it will help me to begin...

Spousal support can also be known as alimony. It is a monthly payment usually awarded after divorce proceedings for people who don't earn a wage or who are on a low income.

There is a misconception surrounding spousal support in which people seem to be under the impression that spousal support is something that all couples are entitled to after a divorce procedure when in reality only about 10% to 15% of divorced couples are entitled to spousal support.

Courts may...

Life is full of challenges, and the marriage institution is not without its fair share of them. Every time we go through tough times, we have the opportunity of turning them around for our good or letting them ruin our lives. Whether they will end up for our good or not depends on our ability to handle such difficult situations.

The issue of In-Laws is one that many women wish did not exist in marriage. This is because it has proven to be the bane of many ailing marriages....

It is said that marriages are made in heaven but celebrated on earth. Matchmaking is one of the toughest tasks. The matchmaker must have an insight into the life and nature of the person for whom he/ she wants to find a match. Perhaps that is the reason why a proper personal matchmaking service is essential.

While making a personal matchmaking profile, an interview is generally taken. These vary largely since the academic and professional career, skill, attitude, and ethics...

No matter how we might resist them at times, we can't deny the presence of rules in society. Your relationship rules influence how you and your partner relate to one another:...

Growing up the youngest of five children, I quickly learned that one way to get attention was to excel. If I could be the best at something, then I would stand out.

So I learned to hide and stand out at the same time. I would hide all my imperfections behind a wall of invulnerability and I would make sure my performance was top notch so I could stand out in the crowd. Not a bad plan…or so I thought.

These past several months I’ve been a part of many...

When you consider what your relationship needs, consider the laws of gravity. An object that is set in motion will continue to move, unless something stands in its way. On the flip side, a motionless object will never move unless something acts upon it. Your relationship or marriage will remain inert unless youactto put it and keep it in motion. And, just as day-to-day goals keep you moving from one task to the next, setting goals for your relationship will infuse your...
