The very name of cancer scares everyone. But there is lot of ignorance regarding the cervical cancer and many women including you takes it lightly and don't care until the end stage. Wake up. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women contributing to 24 per cent cases. You should learn some lesson from the death of celebrity Jade Goody due to this killer disease and watch out for the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is the cancer of the cervix. Cervix is the lower part of your uterus. The cancer affects the cells of your cervix resulting in the malignant growth. It is caused by the infection from human papillomavirus (HPV) which is passed from sexual contact. The lack of awareness of regular Pap test also results in cervical cancer. If you have had multiple sexual partners, then you are at higher risk. Smoking, tobacco and use of birth control pills for a longer period of time can also make you prone to cervical cancer.

How can you recognize that you have cervical cancer? Actually it is a slow killer and cannot be detected at an early stage. You will not have any symptoms suggestive of cervical cancer in early stages. Abnormal vaginal bleeding can be the first indication for you. You can have irregular bleeding in between your periods and sometimes your periods can be present with heavy bleeding and last for long time. Also bleeding after sexual intercourse can also be experienced with lots of pain. If you are having increased vaginal discharge with pain in pelvis, then immediately consult your doctor.
When cervical cancer advances it can also result in appetite loss, weight loss, general weakness and also leakage of urine and stool from vagina.

Don't play with your health. Go for Pap test today. It is a simple test which helps in finding abnormal cervical cells which can be responsible for causing cervical cancer. There are many vaccines present which can protect you from this deadly disease. And if you are a victim of cervical cancer then also you can either go for surgery, radiation therapy or chemotherapy to get cured.
