Chin acne is one of the worst forms of acne that bother individuals. Aside from being itchy and painful, the reddening and swelling doesn’t make you any more attractive either. Chin acne is common in many teenagers and adults alike. This is usually caused by the blockage of skin follicles and oil build up.

This is also caused by an excess of hormones, especially in males, since this area is where they shave and where hair follicles are more active in hair growth. This may also be caused by skin dandruff which should be treated by using special medication.

There are, however, some ways that you can prevent acne and reduce acne breakouts. First and foremost, wash your chin, neck and jawline thoroughly with a facial wash made for oily skin. The chin is usually overlooked when people wash their faces because they focus on their cheeks and forehead. After that, use a facial cleanser that is specifically made for acne. The more severe acne cases may need stronger acne treatment cleansers, while milder cases can be simply addressed with mild soap alone.

Always dry your chin skin with a soft cloth and avoid rubbing the area since it will aggravate the itching and peeling. With your chin thoroughly dry, you can apply a topical medication containing benzoyl peroxide with at least a 2.5 percent solution and a maximum of 10 percent solution. The more severe acne may require the 10 percent, while milder acnes can make do with the 2.5 percent.

Daily care in taking care of chin acne may require a mild acne scrub on your chin to reduce the oil that builds up to cause the acne. You can even wash at least 3 times a day to reduce the oil build up in that area. If this remedy does not work for you after two weeks, it may be best to consult your skin doctor to look at other solutions to address hormonal or bacterial infections which may be bothering your skin.
