What are you getting for your teenage niece this Christmas?

If money is no object, a teenage girl would certainly appreciate a wardrobe full of the latest designer togs. That would make her the IT girl and the envy of all the girls in school.

If she is your favourite niece and you are willing to really splurge on her, then go ahead and bring her on a shopping spree to pick an outfit for her Christmas gift. Once she's chosen the gift, have it gift wrapped, and then give the present to her at the appropriate time. She'll look forward to your gift this year for sure.

Not all of us have that kind of budget. Chances are, we have tight shopping budgets this Christmas and many nieces and nephews to buy gifts for.

So on a more realistic level, what can you get for your teenage niece that she would love, which will not put you in credit card debt?

How much do you know about your niece's interests?

If she loves playing games on her xbox or nintendo, then get her games for her game console.

If she loves running, find out her sports shoe size and get her a pair of running shoes, or get her clothing size and buy her a chic running outfit. Here's where you can compare the prices of running gear .

Does she collect anything in particular?
Does she like any particular movie star?
How about a sports team?

In any case, the better you know her interests, the easier it will be to get her a gift that she would love. A gift with her favourite team's logo, or something she collects or movies starring her favourite actor would be gifts she would love.

If you haven't a clue as to what she likes, try costume jewelry. All girls have a vain streak and a pretty necklace or earrings if her ears are pierced would delight most teenage girls.
