You can overcome claustrophobia using self-help approaches. Overcoming claustrophobic tendencies may seem completely impossible but you can achieve the results that you desire if you put your mind to it. There only difference between a claustrophobic and a non-claustrophobe is thoughts.

Thinking Help for Claustrophobia

The notion that the only difference between you and a non-claustrophobe is thought may seem like an oversimplification but it is not. Your thoughts are very powerful, especially when it comes to emotions like fear. Claustrophobia self help begins in the mind and you can take an important first step. Learning about fear is a great place to start.

Fear is a necessity. Man would not have survived without this protective device. This emotional state is extremely powerful as you can tell that by the physical responses you have when you are afraid. The subconscious mind automatically sets of a chain of responses that have emotional and physical ramifications. This can be considered a type of alert system for your survival.

Fear to Phobia

The intense fear of close spaces can easily develop into a phobia. You know that you have a phobic condition when your fear spills into your daily life. You may avoid normal situations because you are afraid of becoming enclosed in a tight spot. This phobia is irrational and you recognize this on a conscious level.

Even though the phobia is irrational, it still requires attention. You can seek help from a professional in depending on the severity of your condition. If you become panicked at the very thought of an enclosed space, you want to seek advice from a professional. You can use self-hypnosis to complement any treatment plan.

Overcome Claustrophobia

You can overcome claustrophobia even though you may think that it is impossible right now. The best approach uses your subconscious mind in order to change your thought processes. This is a fantastic compliment to cognitive therapy because you are able to work on your conscious processes as well as your subconscious.

The subconscious mind is very powerful and this is the realm that sets off your emotional and physical responses. You may feel as if this is beyond your control but it’s not. Entering the subconscious mind using hypnosis can help you change your thoughts that lead to claustrophobia.
