Many claustrophobics find relief in self-hypnosis as a claustrophobia cure. This remedy for claustrophobic responses is valuable in curing this phobic condition. You can overcome your fear with self-help and therapeutic interventions.

Evaluating Your Phobia

The first step in the process is to determine how severe your phobic condition. You might be uncomfortable in tight places or you might avoid riding in the back seat of a two-door car or you might have overwhelming feelings of panic and anxiety at the very thought of being in tight places.

When your anxiousness leads to panicked thoughts an behaviors, you may have a serious claustrophobic condition. This may be evident in the irrational behavioral responses, feelings of overwhelming panic and obsessive thoughts about being stuck in a tight spot. You know that your fearful feelings are irrational but they seem out of your control.

Claustrophobia Help

You can get the help that you need with the guidance and support of a therapist or counselor in your battle against claustrophobia. This is an important step if you have a very serious condition. You can work together to create a viable plan of action that you can use to overcome you fears and anxiety.

Therapies typically include interventions like cognitive therapy, which addresses your conscious thought processes as you experience claustrophobia. Desensitizing is another approach that gradually introduces you to tight spaces beginning with images and moving to physically entering a small space.

Augmentation for Claustrophobia Cure

You can use self-hypnosis to augment the therapeutic approaches designed by your therapist. This approach helps you by working through your subconscious mind. You no longer have to struggle with your thoughts and emotional responses because your subconscious mind develops new thought and emotional processes automatically.

You can consider your claustrophobia as a habitual response to small spaces. Your mind automatically responds in fear when faced with this kind of condition. All you have to do is to train your brain to create new responses to the situation much like a person overcoming an addiction needs to respond differently to an addictive substance.

Enjoying the Benefits

It helps to focus on the benefits of overcoming claustrophobia. You can enjoy travel again; elevators are no longer threats to your psyche and you are perfectly comfortable in a crowd. You no longer avoid situations. You embrace new experiences and opportunities without fear.
