The Subjective tinnitus is very common and is heard only for the sufferer. It arises from electro physiological disturbance in the system of auditory. It may occur in the tympanic membrane, canal of external ear, auditory nerve, ossicles, cerebral cortex or brain stem, and cochlea. The reasons for subjective tinnitus are otological, metabolic, pharmacological, neurological, psychological, and neoplastic and infectious disorders.

The Objective tinnitus is not very common and the noise is usually heard by the examiner. The doctor hears the sound by putting his ear beside the patient’s ear or exercise a stethoscope alongside the external auditory canal. The Objective tinnitus has a vascular, mechanical, and origin disorders.

The treatment of the patient with tinnitus depends on how severe is the circumstance. If the daily activities of the patient is not affected then treatment is done by reassurance, counseling, dietary and behavioral modifications. Tinnitus can be treated by avoiding excessive noise, salt, nicotine and caffeine. To avoid the hazards that arise due to side effects of medicine, all medication taken by the patient has to be evaluated and oxotoxic drugs should be eliminated. The medication for tinnitus includes amitriptuline, alprazolam, diazepam, and clonazepam but none of them is permitted by the Food and Drug Administration for healing of tinnitus.
