In today’s violent times, it is necessary that we discover why the number of criminal acts are increasing instead of decreasing, and get into the mind of a criminal so as to catch them or stop them before they commit the crime. This kind of criminology study is known as Criminal Psychology.

The rapid growth of criminals has taken to the growth of psychology for the criminal mind and now even TV shows, have come out to show you that the mind of a criminal can also be uncovered. Many of this shows that depict the mentality of a criminal are just small fraction of what the police and the criminal investigators have to go through everyday in order to catch these criminals.

Most criminals have a motive to why they commit a certain crime especially murderers. It would be a crime of passion, or they where probably abused as children and see fit to enact what happened to them to others. This is why criminal psychology is very important to the police, because it helps the police understand them better and with the help of a psychologist the police are able to work faster and more efficient to catch this kind of criminals.

The process in which the police get to discover a criminal’s background as well as the cause of the crime is often referred to as profiling which is usually shown on shows like CSI which is now a big hit and other shows such as Criminal minds, which dig’s even deeper into why the criminal is committing such acts.

The psyche of a criminal is usually very disturbed that is why it is only through Criminal Psychology will we get to see results on how to get these complex criminals.
