More than half of the world population has acne. Out of these, eighty-eight percent are teenagers, and more than fifty percent have or has had a severe form of acne. Moreover most of them at one time or the other was on one form of therapy for acne, but why has the menace continued? Here are the answers;

First of all, our body surface harbors the bacteria that cause acne and produces sebum which both feeds the bacteria and provides fuel for its assault against the skin. Unfortunately, these bacteria are both essential for the normal functioning of the skin. Sweating excessively and heavy clothing probably due to hot weather and cold respectively are important predisposing factors.

Another factor is growth. As important as growth is, it comes with a variety of unwanted effects. For instance, acne is most common during the pubertal age when there is an increase in the production of substances in the body to aid growth. All these processes are inevitable, and so is acne that manifests around this period.

In developing countries, severe cases are prevalent probably due to poverty, poor nutrition, poor hygiene, overcrowding and stressful lifestyle. Lack of good medical facility does not seem to be of much importance because cases of acne are as common with people who visit clinics regularly as with people who don't.

Most importantly people take the wrong approach towards treating their acne; they use chemicals that stop being effective on the disease while at the same time cause a more severe acne, simply because most of the available drugs are both curative, tachyphylactic and irritating. However, there are several natural ways devoid of such side effects that give a holistic cure of acne.

A WELL BALANCED DIET, with low fat and starch content but rich in fiber and moderate protein is advised. Fruits and other food sources rich in vitamin A and E are important antioxidants that prevent the oxidation of sebum byPropioniobacterium acne. Palm oil instead of groundnut oil, honey instead of sugar is also advised.

NATURAL AND HERBAL PRODUCTS such as freshly prepared aloe vera gel, lemon juices, sulfur-based soaps, tomato juice and garlic are preferred to artificial chemicals as cleansing agents due to their potent sebum removing ability and mild action on the skin. One or more times of daily washing with these agents leave the skin sebum free. They are also bactericidal.

A lot of natural moisturizers are also available locally. Egg white left on the skin and rubbed into it after a few minutes is a powerful agent. Other people use honey masks usually mixed with cinnamon powder which gives a more potent preparation against acne. Frequent washing and application of these natural soothers restores the smoothness of the skin and prevent the onset of acne pustules.

Zinc and chromium tablets, terpine-rich tea tree oil are also very effective against acne. Avoid cosmetics. Do not press any acne eruption on the skin. You can try these remedies both to prevent and cure (pre-existing) acne. I am sure that you will be definitely surprised at the outcome.

For some more tips on how to treat your acne, and also to keep it acne-free, you can download my e-book, "14 DAYS ACNE CURE". You'll learn EXACTLY what to do to make your skin acne-free. I look forward to hearing your success story!
