Drink lots and lots of water if you want to be healthy. We've all heard this over and over. Well, it's true. It's an old fashioned tip, but it's good advice. Water won't treat acne scars, however it will help to speed up the healing process. How does it do this? Well, drinking water improves blood circulation throughout the body.  Water also helps in the detoxification process, getting rid of unneeded chemicals that accumulate in the body slowing down body processes. If the detox system is working then it will help to diminish acne outbreaks, which in turn will result in fewer if any acne scarring.

So how much water do you need to drink daily? Consuming a clean and healthy diet means that you are drinking at least half your body weight  in ounces of water, daily. That will cut down on acne outbreaks. It will lessen the formation of scarring as well. Adding antioxidants to your diet will give you an ideal source for your body heal itself of acne scars.  Foods that you should be eating include, tomatoes, blueberries, strawberries, cucumbers, almonds, sunflower seed kernels, wheat germ, and havel nuts, to name just a few of the possibilities. The important thing is to get rid of sugar filled and fatty junk foods.

Vitamin E, which you can pop as a pill or capsule, apply as a topical cream or lotion or consume in your food as part of a good diet, works wonders in acne scar healing and prevention.  Vitamin C is another one good for healing scars or wounds to the skin. Vitamin C is contained in lemons which is used as an astringent to clean the skin and kill bacteria on the skin which cause acne. Just be careful with the lemon because its usage can make the skin extra sensitive to light.

Studies have shown that yet another vitamin, Vitamin A helps in the fight against acne scar formation. This same study revealed that Vitamins K and the B complex Vitamins also help out.

One herbal remedy that has come to the forefront is rosehip seed oil, which can be purchased at most health food stores. Long known for its anti aging and anti wrinkle properties, rosehip oil is now being used to lessen or diminish the appearance of acne scars. Takes a little work, though, in that it must be applied two times a day.

Other remedies found in the kitchen include olive oil, honey, ice cubes and apple cider vinegar. It is important to note that these natural treatments take time and must be applied consistently in order to be effective.
