You might have heard a lot lately about the dangers of mold. Maybe you have been told to replace your hunter air purifier filters . In fact you might have heard enough that now you are concerned with every patch of mold or mold like substance you find in your home. Well, the good news is that small amounts of mold are typically harmless to you. The mold you see on your shower curtains, etc, is relatively harmless.

The bad news is that the mold that is dangerous to you is often the hardest to discover. This is because it is often hidden in damp, humid areas that you don't frequently visit.

If you discover that you have being exposed to harmful mold then you must do what is necessary to remove the mold and prevent it from returning. This will often mean taking care of the source of the mold. If you have a problem with black mold, for instance, then you might have an issue with excessive moisture. Maybe a leak in your attic or basement has gone untreated and resulted in conditions that are a breeding ground for mold. The right conditions can lead to mold spreading very quickly and spores could get introduced into your heating and cooling system resulting in a rapid spread throughout your house.

The level of infestation is going to determine what you need to do to remove the mold problem. In a lot of cases, simply cleaning the affected area extensively will result in the removal of the colony. And if you do this yourself, care should be taken that you do not leave any additional moisture behind. Make sure you dry the area after.

Larger infestations might require the assistance of a mold removal company. They have more advanced cleaning solutions and their work should be backed by a guarantee. This might be a bit more expensive, but if you and your family are suffering from severe mold allergies and you are having trouble eliminating the problem, then a professional might just be your best choice.

After the mold is removed then you should take steps to keep the infestation from ever returning. Repair leaky roofs and basements immediately and work to keep the humidity levels in your house at an acceptable level. Always make sure clothes are dry before putting them away. The same goes for towels and kitchen items that you wash. In addition to that, if you have an exhaust fan in your kitchen, be sure to clean it regularly.
