Diabetes in children - signs and symptoms plus causes are major hurdle to jump. It goes without saying children are more vulnerable and likely to be extinguished by diabetes, if not diagnosed and attended to early enough. The lower the age, the higher the risk coupled with low developing immune system, to weather any opportunistic infections. The sad fact about diabetic children is that the disease remains and grows with them developing complications early that are associated with the disease like retinopathy, kidney failure etc.

It is tempting to ignore as well and forego by mistake on the assumption that nature should take its natural cause and heal the young star. Let's be sincere to all and sundry; diabetic children have tougher routines, parents especially their mothers go through hell. Let's face it; the mother has to learn to administer insulin into the skin usually done over the abdomen or the thighs. There is not an option to treatment whether it is rapid acting insulin or the night slow mode; the formula is the same injection. She must learn to recognize, low or high sugar situations and take appropriate action; including exercising the patient and so forth; the program is tough for her.

There is no denying this is a deadly disease; the young grows up typically pained and stressed by this process and has to be trained along the line on what to and what not to eat, lest obesity, sets in to aggravate the situation further. When it comes to signs and symptoms the face is the same as for adults - thirst, tiredness, weight loss and frequent urination plus headaches, stomach aches and behavior change. The sympathy towards these juveniles is unimaginable especially when due medical care is started with insulin jabs. The symptom that surfaces and recurs often is tummy cramps where a medical practitioner is best advised not to ignore diabetes testing. The warning signs recur tormenting the fledgling young necessitating further checkup and proper medical administration. The better when it is diagnosed early.

What are the real identifiable causes? From studies documented, gene mutation is one visible avenue that seems to raise the matter with all young patients; followed by environmental circumstances; mainly diet and exercises. No family history has ever showed up as the cause or any chemical medication administered at any point to the mother during pregnancy. Gene mutations are hard to explain just like it happens in other situations; mutation is fought as it is. As if this is not enough; there is demonstrated evidence that the pancreas itself chews up its own cells. Some of the cells of the pancreas eat up the insulin producing cells, resulting in the complete loss of production of insulin. This is quite tough, irreversible and demanding to both the young toddler and the medical practitioner; the more reason why it is in very rare circumstances that you hear of full recovery from the disease.

As a summary, diet as discussed in other for a, plays a crucial role and the formula is the same; 3 main meals and 2 to 3 snacks per day. With the help of a trained dietician, the nutrient combinations will be easy to arrive at. For children, the program should be followed to the letter and given the seriousness it deserves.
