For a certain study made on 600,000 smokers in their middle age who had badly damaged lungs, the study showed that, people who quitted smoking had 46% lower death rate that those who refused to quit smoking, people who quitted lived an average of 14.5 years more than those who refused to quit smoking.
Finally, don't think that when you decide to quit smoking you'll succeed on your first attempt, this is possible but most people who quitted smoking need 7 to 9 attempts to make it. You just need to stick to your decision with enough determination to kick that bad habit as soon as possible.
