Anger is a common human emotion which if not controlled can turn out to be a destructive force for us. When anger is mismanaged and gets out of hand, it carries a potential to deteriorate your life. Unable to control anger, a person can sometimes feels helpless and at mercy of this powerful emotion. Mismanaged anger or rage sometimes becomes a major source of irritation in our personal and professional relationships. Road rage, domestic clashes, divorce or addictions are few of the reasons of mismanaged anger. Anger arises out of conflict with another person and can be nullified or controlled to some extent by reaching out for some settlement from within. Sometimes unfulfilled desires and expectations are also the origin of anger. Meditation and soul cleansing techniques if adopted can provide some relaxation to aggrieved mind. Learning to forgive and forget, bringing changes to the ways we interact with others and improving optimism helps us to a great extent in accomplishing this task. Anger and its causes may vary from person to person and hence may require a personalized approach for its treatment. One way to deal with anger management is to suppress it and then redirect it. This can be easily achieved when we ignore the cause of anger, control ourselves and turn our focus to other positive things. This response is all the more important because if it is not allowed an outward expression, anger may repulse inwards, causing depressions, blood pressure, and sleeplessness. Problems and difficulties arise only when we approach them with negative mindset, which further fuels anger. Therefore, to get rid of problems, we need to transform our mental setup and start appreciating the benefits of being calm and composed in testing times. If we understand that it is our own way of thinking, rather than somebody's fault, which is responsible for our anger, we can be successful in managing our anger and any adverse effects it may have on us. If we can strengthen our ability to tolerate, we can win anger to a great extent. If we begin to appreciate that anger within us is due to our own perception of looking at things, then we in turn begin to enhance our ability to change the way we look at the world. Many of our emotional upheavals are nothing more but our incapability to accept things at their face value. In achieving this we need a cool mind, rather than any attempt to modify externals. In personal relationships, many of our incompatibilities arise because we fail to accept our companion in a way he or she is. The remedy in such cases lies not in changing our partners, but to accept them graciously as they already are. Patience is always capable of solving one's inner problems and this in turn solves the problems between people. Meditation and yoga teaches us to happily accept sufferings with calmness of mind. If we appreciate a positive state of mind in face of difficulties, we will learn to cope with them with all required grace. Conversely, if we allow our mind to propagate negative thoughts leading to unhappy feelings in us, we may be left with no way to prevent anger in us from arising.
