It is not easy to handle depression. You will find it difficult to get up in the morning and get off your bed. You won't feel like going to work. You don't want to socialize with people or smile at them. You will feel lonely and frustrated.

The first thing you should do is observe the symptoms of depression and how long you have been experiencing them. All of us might go through such feelings some time or the other. When it is not so frequent, we can ignore it. But when these feelings of depression become persistent, then there is cause for concern.

Now is the time to find out how to get over these feelings of depression. We need to think up of ways to lift our mood and carry on with our work. In this article, let us discuss some of the top ways you can employ to fight depression and beat it off.

Ways to Beat Depression:
The first thing you can do is to remind yourself that depressive feelings usually do not last for long. They go away even if you don't do anything about them. Remind yourself constantly that this condition is not permanent. You are soon going to get over this and feel joyful again. In this way you can get over your fear of depression soon.

You will now feel assured that you can handle and see off this phase of life. You will be hopeful that things will soon be back to normal. When you are reminding yourself, remember to be polite and friendly. Talk to yourself in the same way you would talk to a close friend when he is going through some troubling situation.

So, become your own friend and adviser during this period of depression. It is best to get some outside help and support. If you have understanding and supportive friends or spouse, it can make matters much easier. However, even if you don't, then you can become your own good friend.

The second trick to beat depression is to divert your mind and move it away from depressive thoughts. Your mind can only focus on 1 thing at a time. when you get busy with something else, the mind has to follow suit.

This is truly one of the best way to handle depression. Get involved in some activity which is useful for the society. Do something beneficial for yourself or others. Empty mind is a devil's workshop. So beat depression by participating in any useful or constructive activity which helps a lot of people.

When you get busy with something useful, then your mind can be diverted away from those negative thoughts. It will now have something better to focus on. You will feel happy that you are doing something that is beneficial to others.

1. Remind yourself that this will not last, become your own friend and adviser

2. Distract your mind by getting busy in something which is beneficial to the whole society
