The highly respected Dr. Tony Evans teaches that "committed Christians may fall into sin, but a carnal Christian bathes in." Evans continues, "He has the mindset, motivation and methodology of sin."

Believersbathingin sin? Some may not think it possible for Evans to promise paradise to such "sinning saints." According to Dr. Evans though, there are "saints who act more sinful than sinners even though they are on their way to heaven." Further, <a" href="href" ?ct=2935685" Dr. Evans promises paradise to Christ rejectors and even unrepentant murderers. Paul's warning in Romans 6:16 comes to mind: "Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?"

Tony Evans plainly promises paradise to those alleged "sinning saints" whobathe in sin. Reader, ask yourself, what career criminal or devil doesn't do likewise? Perhaps heaven will be full of devils if Dr. Evans dogma is accurate. If Romans 6:16 and the following were all the holy writ had to say on the matter, which they are not, these scriptures would be plenty to label Tony Evans'sinning saintnotion as heresy. Consider:

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:9-10

Biblically speaking a sinning saint will perish though Tony Evans teaches otherwise. In fact, to believe Dr. Evans is to be deceived: "Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning" (1 John 3:7-8).

Deliverance from the bondage of sin as offered in the gospel is good news for those who desire to be free. For sinning saints desiring carnality and spirituality, however, the message of the gospel is sad news. Paul, when addressing the sinning saints among the Philippians, wrote with a heavy heart:

Many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. Phil 3:18-20

"Carnal Christians" taking refuge in the promises of Tony Evans are not bound for heaven, in Paul's words they're "enemies of the cross of Christ." Evans' sinning saint fancies mirror a romance Rather than sound theology. They are theological clouds without water silently stupefying God's people into spiritual sloth and destruction.
