Dexbrompheniramine (Drixoral) is the combination medicine containing the antihistamine with anticholinergic properties used to treat allergic conditions such as hay fever or urticaria. It is the pharmacologically active dextrorotatory isomer of Brompheniramine. Drixoral is manufactured by Schering-Plough and is unavailable in the US.

Drixoral is used to treat symptoms associated with colds and allergies such as itchy and watery eyes, nasal and sinus congestion, runny nose and sneezing. Drixoral is available in Canada and can be procured from online pharmacies.

Drixoral Side Effects- What to avoid?

Taking Drixoral tablets can trigger side effects that may impair your ability to be awake and alert so be careful while you are driving or do anything that requires you to be careful and attentive.

Drixoral has been found to increase some of the side effects if you drink alcohol so you should avoid drinking while using the drug.

Before taking Drixoral what should I discuss with my doctor?

Always tell your healthcare provider if you are allergic to dexbrompheniramine, or pseudoephedrine.

Always consult your doctor before taking Drixoral if you suffer from kidney disease, thyroid disorder, diabetes, enlargeg prostate, heart disease, glaucome or urination problems

Do not use Drixoral before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body as serious, life-threatening side effects can occur.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment as Drixoral may be harmful to an unborn baby. Consult your doctor before using Drixoral if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you have a fever, headache, cough, or skin rash.

Drixoral: How to use the medication?

Drixoral should be used exactly as directed on the label, or as it has been prescribed. Use Drixoral for a short time or until symptoms clear up. Consult your doctor before giving Drixoral to children.

Drixoral  should  be stored at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

Missing a dose/Overdose-What happens?

You should not take Drixoral to make up the missed dose.

Incase of overdose you should seek emergency medical attention immediately.
