The most important duty of the Mother of the Bride is to make sure that most, if not all, of the bride’s wishes are carried out according to the bride’s way or with her tastes in mind. Some mothers tend to incorporate their own desires and forget or set aside those of their daughters’. But it is the mothers’ responsibility to see that this does not happen.

  • The Mother of the Bride aids her daughter bride in choosing the perfect Brooklyn bridal gown she’ll be wearing.
  • She may also help the soon to be married couple in settling on their wedding budget. Having a good clear budget upfront would help everyone manage expectations.
  • Contacts the Mother of the Groom in the event does not contact her first.
  • May also offer to help put together and finalize the guest list so that the invitations may be ordered as soon as possible.
  • Looking for accommodations for guests from out-of-town who are invited by the bride’s family is also one of the duties of the Mother of the Bride.
  • Inform the Mother of the Groom the style and colors of your gown so she can decide what color she would get for her own so as to compliment yours.
  • Make sure that any special touches chosen by the bride are carried out. Check also other arrangements like seating schedule and receiving line.
  • During the ceremony, the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom light the family candle on the altar before the entrance of the bridal party.
  • Coordinate with the wedding planner if any together with the bride.

It is important that the duties and roles of the Maid of Honor and Mother of the Bride will not be in conflict especially as some of her responsibilities coincide with those of the Mother of the Bride. It is helpful if they both coordinate their plans for the bride’s happiness.
